Norris Edges Out Piastri in Sao Paulo Practice
Lando Norris has outscored his teammate at each of the past five race weekends.
The McLaren driver just pipped fellow driver and title rival the Australian for the fastest time in the closing stages of the practice session at the Brazilian Grand Prix.
The British racer, who seized the title advantage from his teammate by one point after winning in Mexico City a fortnight back, beat the Australian by a mere 0.023s.
Before then, Piastri had been the leading McLaren for most of the session before the sprint shootout set to begin at 6:30 PM GMT.
Max Verstappen, the only other driver in the points battle, lying 36 points Norris, finished in 17th place as his Red Bull team opted for a different programme.
His teammate the Japanese driver was the sole competitor to go off, albeit lightly, when he lost control at Turn Four during the early running.
Tsunoda spun out over the exit kerbs before spinning across the gravel trap, and was fortunate to escape with just a light touch of the barrier.
Ferrari's the seven-time champion also spun, at the very end of the session, rotating twice through the fast downhill Mergulho turn leading to the final corner on to the main straight.
Hamilton wrapped up in 19th place, just behind team-mate the Monegasque driver.
Norris and Piastri were well clear of the remaining drivers, with the German's Sauber third fastest, over half a second slower than Piastri's best.
The Aston Martin of the Spanish driver was in fourth, with the Sauber of Gabriel Bortoleto in front of the Mercedes of Russell and the Alpine of Gasly and Williams' Sainz.
